Beacons of Positivity and Good Vibes
Hello Wyoming State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma Sisters,
As your new state WySO president, I am excited to share what I learned at
the international training for DKG state leaders in Dallas this summer. My goal
is to maintain and hopefully increase our membership and offer its benefits to
many more distinguished women educators.
My theme for my biennium is “We are Beacons of Positivity and Good
Vibrations". In many cultures, hummingbirds are considered just that;
beacons, which is why they will be my symbol. Hummingbirds are also
symbols of endurance, resilience, continuation and vitality. These are all
strengths we have as WySO members as well.
I’ve been in DKG since 2003. I have been chapter secretary, chapter vice
president, chapter president (a couple terms), state parliamentarian, state
second vice president, state first vice president and now state president. I
have gone to Wyoming state conventions since I became a member. I have
attended regional and international DKG conventions and conferences in
Cheyenne, Canada, Iowa, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Dallas.
As a state project, I will focus on gathering Let Your Light Shine stories and
publishing the next volume. I will also continue the state project of supporting
early educators (SEE) through grants given at the spring training/convention
to assist them in their teaching. The application form and requirements will be
posted on this website. It will be due April 1 of each year. Our other state
scholarship application is also on this website for those of you members who
are going on to graduate work in your teaching field.
Our next state meeting will be held in Casper, WY on Sept. 16th, 2023.
Everyone is invited to join in hearing the great speaker from Canada. Our
International Convention will be in New Orleans from July 12-16, 2024. As a
Wyoming member, our state treasury will pay your registration for the fall
meeting up to $40 and to the International Convention up to $250. These
events are a major reason I continue to value DKG! Join the great women
educators from around the world. It’s a wonderful time to connect with
distinguished women leaders.
If you are a DKG member, be sure to go to the dkg.org website, create your
own profile using your member number as your username. If you have never
created a profile, use the password dkg2014society first and then create your
own. PLEASE USE A PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS (Not your school email).
Start finding all the great things DKG has to offer you.
I really hope we can increase our statewide membership and get many other
distinguished women educators to join our organization and be Beacons of
Positivity and Good Vibrations!
See you all very soon!
